8 Study Programs in UNSOED Implement MBKM Curriculum Grant

Universitas Jenderal Soedirman is preparing the implementation of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) or Independent Campus, Freedom to Learn Policy committedly. There are 8 study programs which become the pioneers of this curriculum since they got grant from Directorate of Learning and Students, Ministry of Education and Culture to implement MBKM curriculum. According to Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr.Ir. Akhmad Sodiq, M.Agr.Sc, this grant could accelerate adaptive curriculum which synergize with the development of the new age which needs cooperation and collaboration with industrial partners to establish students’ successful learning. The curriculum quality is another key of successful education besides lecturers’ quality. “Through MBKM, every alumnus is expected to get proper job and every student could get experiences outside campus, such as internship, village project, teaching, research, entrepreneurship, and student exchange.”, said Prof. Sodiq.

Some breakthrough efforts have been done by those eight study programs, namely increasing alumni’s competence (Agrotechnology Study Program), manifesting alumni’s profile (Biology Study Program), developing strategy to implement curriculum (Economics Education Study Program), adapting to the new curriculum through equivalence mechanism (Animal Science Study Program), strengthening alumni’s competitiveness (Civil Engineering Study Program), revitalizing curriculum and upgrading learning model (Japanese Literature Study Program), enhancing alumni’s quality (Mathematics Study Program), and improving study program’s capacity (Aquaculture Study Program). The grant given by the ministry was proven beneficial in advancing and arranging curriculum with MBKM perspective.

According to one of the team leaders who received the grant, Dr. Yusida Lusiana, M.Si., M.Pd from Japanese Literature Study Program, this grant helped her team understand the importance of formal partnership between institutions, the need of operational procedure in academic service. She added another thing achieved from this grant was the establishment of adaptive and innovative attitude to face changes, so that it could be implemented to the available curriculum without colliding with the alumni’s learning achievement, but it would enrich it instead.
