Feeling Enthusiastic, Harapan Bunda Integrated Islamic Elementary School Students Visit Experimental Farm

[unsoed.ac.id, Fri, 19/01/24] A total of 83 students and 8 teachers of SDIT Harapan Bunda located at Jalan Wahid Hasyim Karangklesem Purwokerto visited Teaching & Experimental Farm of Faculty of Animal Husbandry (Fapet) Unsoed, Thursday (18/1).

This visit is a part of out-of-class learning to introduce farm animals and poultry to children. Referring to this week's learning theme, "Farm Animals", this outing activity aims to provide insight to children by directly seeing the physical form, types, and animals in the Exp.farm.

"Introduction and education related to the world of animal husbandry to SDIT Harapan Bunda children to add insight and knowledge about farm animals, types of feed and products produced by farm animals," said the Head of the Committee, Nasam, S.Pd.

Nasam hopes that this outing class activity can help children know the benefits that farm animals have for human nutritional needs, by understanding the sources of animal nutrition that they usually consume daily, such as where the eggs they usually eat come from, the milk they usually drink and so on.

The visit of SDIT Harapan Bunda arrived at the Experimental Farm (Exp.farm) location at around 08.30 WIB and was welcomed by the Exp.farm manager Nu'man Hidayat, S.Pt., M.Si. On that occasion Nu'man expressed his gratitude for the choice to do the learning at Exp.farm Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Unsoed. In addition, he also expressed his excitement to see the enthusiasm of the students who were quite active in interacting.

After welcomin ceremony, the students were grouped into three groups according to the number of students who picketed the visit of three people, including Ahmad Zaki, Ibnu Imam Rafangi and Aris Tarus Jatmiko, who were the members of Paguyuban Mahasiswa Kandang (handler). The handlers with different routes took turns directing students around the cages, from dairy cows, beef cows, goats, sheep and closed house laying hens. The handlers patiently escorted the students to each cage while explaining the animals they were seeing.

Educational activities are carried out by introducing farm animals that are commonly kept and utilized, such as dairy cows, beef cows, laying hens, local chickens, goats of various types and sheep.

Students then re-entered the Exp.farm classroom to rest and receive an explanation from the accompanying teacher. While listening to the teacher's presentation, the students enjoyed pure cow's milk in cup packages with various flavors.
