BIPA UNSOED Holds Archipelago Folklore Storytelling Contest 2022

[unsoed.ac.id, Wed, 10/08/22] BIPA Unsoed again holds a national folklore storytelling competition which is one of BIPA's annual programs in IRO Unsoed, Wednesday (10/8). This year, the storytelling competition was finally held offline, after the previous year was held online due to the pandemic. The event took place at the Ballroom Integrated Academic Building (IAB) 5th Floor Unsoed.

The chairman of the committee, Tri Muniarti SS.,M.Hum., Ph.D in her report said that this activity is a means of introducing Indonesian culture in the form of folklore. Indonesian literature is also a learning tool for foreign students. In addition, it is a medium to introduce Indonesia to the international arena. This year is the 4th event, and this year only students who receive the Jenderal Soedirman Scholarship will participate.

Chancellor Prof.Dr.Ir Akhmad Sodiq M.Sc.,Agr at the opening of the event, greatly appreciated the activities of this archipelago folklore storytelling competition. The Chancellor hopes that this is not a competition but a collaboration.

Participants come from Yemen, Thailand, Tajikistan, Timor Leste, and Sudan. The titles of the stories that were told included The Bitter Tounge, The Story of the Bay of Bali, The Story of The Parakeet King, Roro Jonggrang, Gampong Alue Naga, The Legend of the Origin of Baturraden, Malin Kundang, Timun Mas, Lake Toba, Crying Stone, Si Pitung, Ande-Ande Moss, and About Mount Bromo.

The elements of the competition assessment include vocals (intonation and articulation), appreciation, mastery of story material, and appearance.
