FT UNSOED Signed MoA with NCREE Taiwan
[unsoed.ac.id, Fri, 15/01/21] Higher Educations are expected to do research collaboration and capacity development to support the Ministry of Education and Culture’s program, which is Independent Campus: Freedom to Learn. Therefore, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman / UNSOED through Faculty of Engineering signed Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE), National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLabs), Taiwan.
The MoA was signed by the Dean of Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Eng. Suroso, S.T, Rector of Unsoed Prof. Dr. Ir. Suwarto M.S., and Director General NCREE Prof. Shyh-Jiann Hwang. This MoA covers collaboration in capacity development by improving human resources and research collaborations, and publishing articles related to Earthquake Engineering. Besides, the cooperation in conducting routine training with relevant themes was also decided, while the time and place of the training would be determined later.
The Director of International Relation Office (IRO) Unsoed, Dr. Erwin R. Ardli said that this agreement gave enhancement in the implementation of higher education in Unsoed, especially in implementing “Independent Campus: Freedom to Learn” program. “Unsoed lecturers and students, especially the Faculty of Engineering, can improve their competence through capacity building with this partnership with NCREE, "he said. In addition, this is a form of recognition of human resources at the Faculty of Engineering Unsoed by researchers in Taiwan, especially in the field of Earthquake Engineering. "Currently there is one Faculty of Engineering human resource who is directly involved in collaborative research with NCREE. He is Yanuar Haryanto, S.T., M.Eng, who is also a Ph.D candidate at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Taiwan. Hopefully this cooperation can continue with a broader and deeper outcome for the benefit of the Indonesian nation, " he explained.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Eng. Suroso, S.T. revealed that the collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering UNSOED and NCREE Taiwan was expected to improve the quality of the implementation of the three pillars of Higher Education, especially research activities and international scientific publications from Faculty of Engineering lecturers in Unsoed. "This cooperation can be a means to accelerate the achievement of the vision and mission of the Faculty of Engineering Unsoed," he stated.
Furthermore, as an HR who is directly involved in the research collaboration with NCREE, Yanuar Haryanto, ST, M.Eng explained that currently he is involved in research on the topic of reinforcing concrete beam elements using Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) with the shallow planting method or Near Surface Mounted (NSM) which focuses on the effect of its depth for its application in rural areas which are often found not eligible according to applicable regulations. "I thank the Rector of Unsoed and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Unsoed for their support so far. I believe this collaboration with NCREE will have a positive impact on strengthening each party involved and can make a constructive contribution to institutions as well as for Indonesia, " he concluded.
