Two UNSOED Geological Engineering Student Teams Win Trophies at the Prestigious CGSEvent

[Unsoed.ac.id, Tue, 5 Oct 2021] UNSOED students keep making achievements. This time, two teams from Geological Engineering Students at Jendral Sudirman University (UNSOED) managed to win the championship at the prestigious National Geology event, namely the Celebes Geo Summit (CGS) in 2021 which was held at Hasanuddin University. The theme this time is "Geo-Environment for Natural Resource Management Towards Golden Indonesia''. The UNSOED Geology Student Team won 1st Place in the Geology Smart Student Competition, which was won by Ezza Ray Raditya Prasetyo (H1C018002), Idham Khaliq Yudhistira (H1C08051), and Kasih Septiani (H1C08031) and 1st Place in the Celebes Geo Summit Video Competition which was won by the Dhofaeri Wildan (H1C018011), Annisa Helly Suranda (H1C018029), M. Falih Hikmatullah (H1C018052) team. These UNSOED student teams managed to outperform other participants from all over Indonesia including from ITB, UGM, UNPAD, UI, Pertamina University, UNHAS, UNMUL, and USK

This activity was held from 22 to 26 September 2021 with several activities consisting of Paper Competition, Gemstone, Video Competition, Fostered Village, Geotourism and Celebes Night.

The Geology Smart Student Competition team, Ezza Raditya, revealed that the stages of the Geology Smart Student Competition (Gemstone) were attended by 11 teams consisting of preliminary, semi-final, and final rounds. "In the final round, Unsoed got 120 points," he explained.

Meanwhile, for the video competition, Annisa said that this year's Celebes video competition has the theme "The Art of Geology". “Our team is trying to find the Lava Cave in Purbalingga. We shoot using drones and cameras. Then we also added information related to geology in the video,” stated him.

Ezza and Annisa hope that this achievement can continue to spur them to perform even better. This achievement is also expected to motivate other students to compete at a high level.

The 2021 CGS activity was opened by the Head of the ESDM Division of South Sulawesi Province, A Irawan Bintang. Then it was continued with a talk show with the theme “Environmentally Friendly Mining” with speakers Lana Saria, Sri Widodo and Gesang Setyadi.

Meanwhile, the webinar was delivered by James Evert Adolf Liku with the theme "Life Cycle Thinking: Waste Management in The Mining Industry". Meanwhile, Rahmat Muallim presented material with the theme "Mining Resilience Sustainability Concept in Mining, Case Study: Coal and Nickel Mining Industry Green Sustainability Fundamentally Concept".

The second day was a Competition Day which was divided into 2 branches of the competition, namely: Paper Competition and Gemstone (Geology Smart Student). The third day was filled with the Launching of Assisted Villages and Health Checks. And on the last day, Social Service, Outbound, and Celebes Night actions were held offline and online. The offline event itself was held at the Claro Hotel (Phinisi Ballroom 2nd Floor) Hari Jl. AP Pettarani No. 03, Makassar
