UNSOED Delegation Won Gold Medal at WYSII 2023 Competition

[unsoed.ac.id, Tue, 15/08/23] Gold Medal was successfully achieved by Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) students at the international level. This time at the World Youth STEM Invention Innovation 2023 event. In this event, the team consisting of Khairunnisa (English Education 2021), Hidayat Nur Wahid (Indonesian Language Education 2020), Nisa Tri Yulinda (Mathematics 2021), Mohamad Izudin Fikri (Mathematics 2021), and Chika Agustin Darmawan (Chemistry 2021) won the Gold Medal The Best Entrepreneur Award.

Khairunnisa said in this event the team carried the concept of making sunscreen with Shea Butter for baby skin from corn hair waste in Susukan Village, Banyumas. "Making sunscreen is a new innovation in which sunscreen is made from corn waste in Susukan Village," she said.

The WYSII competition is a contest in the field of applied science, organized by the Malaysia Young Scientist Organization (MYSO). The categories include Social Science, Life Science, Physics & Engineering, Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence, Enviromental Science. Unsoed delegation participated in the Life Science category. The competition was joined by 916 teams, 2800 participants from 8 countries (Indonesia, Romania, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, and Nepal).

This achievement gained is an evidence that Unsoed students are able to compete with international students so that it can motivate other students to dare to excel in the international level.

The online competition began with the selection of paper documents on July 18, 2023, followed by judging on August 03-05, 2023. While the announcement of the results (Awarding) was held on August 6, 2023.
