UNSOED Organized International Community Service Program in Thailand for the First Time

[unsoed.ac.id, Sun, 16/07/23] In realizing its vision in 2024, which is to be recognized worldwide as a center for the development of rural resources and local wisdom, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) seeks to increase its capacity and role in building an international community, as well as in its efforts to improve student competence so that later they become globally competitive graduates. In 2023, for the first time UNSOED organized an international Community Service Program (KKN) by sending 5 students to two regions in southern Thailand, namely Pattani and Narathiwat.

The students are Faris Hartanto (Faculty of Law), Putra Cahva Tama Ramadhan (Faculty of Social and Political Science), and three students from the Faculty of Humanities, namely Farah Azzahra, Dhealia Athifah, and Rumaisha Afifatul Qonita.

Students will learn to socialize while applying the knowledge gained on campus to a wider community and even to other countries. Various activities will be carried out in schools, local government offices and also social activities in the southern Thai community. This activity has received great support from Unsoed's partner in Thailand, the Indonesian Alumni Association of Thailand (PERSAIT), in which the association is a forum for around 2000 Thais who are alumni from various campuses in Indonesia.

The handover of the participants of international community service program  was carried out by Dr.sos. Waluyo Handoko, Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Public Relations, accompanied by the Head of the International Relation Office (Dr.rer.nat. Erwin R Ardli) and Prof. Amin Fatoni as Vice Dean for Student Affairs, alumni and cooperation of Faculty of Matemathics and Science.

This international community service was initiated by the International Relation Office (IRO Unsoed) with the Unsoed Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM). On July 22, 24 students will also depart for international community service in Malaysia.
