Students of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry share their experiences during the Japan Internship Program
The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman handed over internship certificates to two students who had completed the Japan Internship Program 2022 Batch 3, Wednesday (8/11) in the Dean's room of The Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Unsoed. The two students participated in this program for 12 months at ABE Farm, Shibecha Hokkaido, Japan.
The Dean accompanied by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs & Alumni, Dr. Ir. Agustinah Setyaningrum, MP, IPU handed over certificates symbolically to Namira and Alisa Ramdani, who had returned to Indonesia after completing the internship program from June 29, 2022 to May 23, 2023. This internship program was carried out in collaboration between Unsoed and LPK Kokorono Siji.
They participated in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, undergoing a two-semester internship in Japan along with 44 Unsoed students from different faculties. This program gives them the opportunity to gain practical experience in the international livestock industry, while accumulating credits in the MBKM curriculum.
The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Unsoed, Prof. Dr. Ir. Triana Setyawardani, S.Pt, MP, IPU, expressed her pride in the achievements of the two students. "Their participation in the Internship program at ABE Farm in Japan is a big step in developing practical skills and knowledge in the field of animal husbandry. This is also in line with the Independent Campus spirit that we apply at Unsoed," explained the dean.
The Dean further said, during the internship program in Japan, The students of Faculty of Animal Husbandry not only gained in-depth insights into modern animal husbandry practices, but were also involved in innovative projects at ABE Farm. They interacted with local farmers, scientists, and industry practitioners to gain a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of animal husbandry.
Back in Indonesia, these two students are expected to contribute positively to the development of the national livestock sector. Their achievements are also an inspiration for other students at The Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Unsoed to follow in their footsteps in exploring educational and career development opportunities abroad.
In addition, Prof. Triana emphasized the faculty’s commitment in supporting the MBKM program. This program not only provides flexibility for students to explore their interests, but also provides opportunities for them to hone skills and knowledge through practical experience in various learning environments, including abroad.
Japanese intern, Namira, said, “During the internship process, a lot of knowledge and experience was gained. Aside from learning how to manage a farm, we were also encouraged to learn to be professional and appreciate the process and effort. The knowledge gained is also not limited to animal husbandry, how to adapt to a different environment in terms of lifestyle and Japanese culture also makes our views broader.”
"Meeting the people at Abe Farm is one of the most memorable things because they can accept us well and guide us and make us more comfortable at work. I was tired, of course, but with the warm atmosphere built with other workers, I personally think this year was the most memorable year as a student," said Namira.
Namira is very grateful to those who have given her the opportunity to develop herself so that she is better prepared to enter the world of work. "Hopefully this program can be continued in order to open a wider path for students in the Faculty of Animal Husbandry who are more valuable and have extraordinary experience as a student." Namira said.
Meanwhile, Alisa Ramdani said, “While in Japan many benefits were obtained, direct practice of the knowledge gained about the differences in livestock technology in Japan, the majority of which already use sensor-based technology. Whereas in Indonesia, mostly only large companies have implemented this technology. She also experienced 4 seasons that do not exist in Indonesia and got to know Japanese culture and of course international work experience," said Alisa.
