Image Processing Expertise to Support the Health Sector

Inaugurated as the first professor of the Electrical Engineering Department of Unsoed on December 18, 2019, Prof. Dr. Eng. Retno Supriyanti, S.T., M.T. has a bachelor's (S.T) and master's (M.T) engineering education background at Gadjah Mada University and earned her doctorate (Dr.Eng) at Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. He has been a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Unsoed since 2000 even before the establishment of the faculty of engineering, which used to be only in the form of a Bachelor of Engineering Program (PST). In addition to serving as a lecturer, he is also a Coordinator of the Unsoed IPR Service Center.

Prof. Dr. Eng. Retno Supriyanti, S.T., M.T. has conducted various researches, most of which focus on image processing, especially the development of supporting technology for health diagnosis, especially in rural service areas. In her scientific oration, she delivered a topic on digital image processing techniques in the development of diagnosis support equipment to improve public health services in developing countries.

The technology was created to produce photos/images in order to obtain clear results to diagnose areas containing disease. Although she is an engineering person, she is interested in helping technology in the health sector. She revealed that the equipment / technology in rural areas did not have good resolution, especially in producing images / photos so she innovated to develop this technology. This focus is also in line with Unsoed's vision and mission related to sustainable rural development.

Prof. Dr. Eng. Retno Supriyanti, S.T., M.T. has a myriad of achievements. Some of them are that she received a research grant from Sandiego California (2008), was chosen as the Best Paper in Prague (2017), became a Finalist in Kalbe's Farma Technology Research (2010), was included in 40 Young Indonesian-American Researchers (Kavli Frontier of Science Indonesia-USA, 2013), became one of the Junior Scientists in the Indonesia-Netherland Cooperation (2014), and won the Konika Minolta Imaging Award, Japan (utilization of digital cameras, 2009). His doctoral education was funded by the Mobuka Gakoso Japan scholarship. In addition, she was also featured in several magazines/media in Indonesia, including Kartini Indonesia in the field of science and technology in Kartini Magazine (2012) and Inspirational Figure of the Nation's Children in Media Indonesia (2012).

In addition to receiving various awards/awards, 27 of her researches have also been granted IPR and patents. Some of these research topics include cataract early detection (method and device) as the holder of NAIS Rights (Japan International patent, 2009), IPR on white blood cell research (Power Post), IPR on alzheimer research, and IPR on gynecological ultrasound research. Prof. Dr. Eng. Retno Supriyanti, S.T., M.T. who is a scientist and professor with a myriad of achievements has the mandate to become a reviewer for several government agencies such as LPDP research (proposal) (2013 - present), Kemenristekdikti (2018 - present), and Unsoed (2011 - present).

Prof. Dr. Eng. Agus Maryoto, ST., MT.

Prof. Dr. Eng. Agus Maryoto, ST, MT. was born in Grobogan, September 20, 1971. He studied Civil Engineering undergraduate program at Sebelas Maret University since 1991, Civil Engineering Master's program at Diponegoro University, then continued his education with the his education with the S3 program in Civil Engineering Materials at Nagaoka University of Technology in 2010.

Prof. Dr. Eng. Agus Maryoto, S.T., M.T., has research history related to the Effect of the Use of Calcium Stearate on the Physical and Mechanical Properties of Mortar and Concrete, Calcium Stearate Usage as an Additive Material in Reinforced Concrete Structure at Marine Environment to Reduce Corrosion Attack. Corrosion Attack, Calcium Stearate Contribution to Reinforcement Adhesion Stress In Self-Compacting Concrete with Portland Pozzoland Cement Binder and Fly Ash. 

In his inauguration as a professor of Concrete Technology, Prof. Dr. Eng. Agus Maryoto, ST, MT, he took the theme of Calcium Stearate to make concrete more water-resistant. Concrete is an artificial rock composed of cement, crushed stone, sand, water and additives.  To the naked eye, concrete is a solid and hollow material, but when viewed in microstructure, millions of capillaries are visible. Corrosive materials such as chloride ions and sulfate ions can enter the concrete. When these corrosive ions reach the reinforcing bars, they can cause corrosion. To avoid this, it is necessary to improve the properties of the concrete microstructure by three methods, one of which is the integral waterproofing method. This method is useful to increase the level of water resistance. One of the materials that can be used comes from stearate acids such as calcium stearate, zinc stearate and ammonium stearate. The application of calcium stearate in concrete is expected to increase the service life of civil buildings made of reinforced concrete or pre-stressed concrete.
