[unsoed.ac.id, Fri, 02/06/23] Condro Wibowo, S.TP., M.Sc., Ph.D., a lecturer at the Food Technology Study Program at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) received an invitation to become a “Visiting Lecturer” at the Advanced Program of Food Technology Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Food Technology Nong Lam University in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. This activity was carried out on May 22-26 2023. Nong Lam University (NLU) in Ho Chi Minh City is a government-owned university that focused on agriculture and forestry. Currently, the university is one of the leading universities in Vietnam. One of the mainstay programs at NLU is the Advanced Education Program (AEP), a learning program with international curriculum standard which consists of lecturers and students from several countries.

The faculty of Chemical Engineering and Food Technology also organizes the AEP program called Advanced Program of Food Technology (APFT) which has received certification from AUN-QA (Asean University Network - Quality Assurance). Guest lecturers for the program came from UC Davis America, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia.

Condro Wibowo said that each guest lecturer was responsible for delivering a full course and also for giving a final grade, so he had to prepare testing for the Mid-term Exam, Final Exam and other assessment components. The material delivered to students is in a block system, so each course is delivered every day until it is finished and only then it is continued with other courses. “So, in one day, a lecturer could deliver the material for about 6 hours,  from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. with 1 hour break for lunch. In 2023, there were 24 students attending the program. In order to join APFT, these students had to take several exams and paid tuition fees which were much more expensive than regular programs,” he explained.

On this occasion, Condro Wibowo, S.TP., M.Sc., Ph.D. received an invitation from the Rector of NLU to discuss several things regarding academic process and initiate broader collaboration between NLU and Unsoed.
