Image Processing Expertise to Support the Health Sector

Inaugurated as the first professor of the Electrical Engineering Department of Unsoed on December 18, 2019, Prof. Dr. Eng. Retno Supriyanti, S.T., M.T. has a bachelor's (S.T) and master's (M.T) engineering education background at Gadjah Mada University and earned her doctorate (Dr.Eng) at Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. He has been a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Unsoed since 2000 even before the establishment of the faculty of engineering, which used to be only in the form of a Bachelor of Engineering Program (PST). In addition to serving as a lecturer, he is also a Coordinator of the Unsoed IPR Service Center.

Prof. Dr. Eng. Retno Supriyanti, S.T., M.T. has conducted various researches, most of which focus on image processing, especially the development of supporting technology for health diagnosis, especially in rural service areas. In her scientific oration, she delivered a topic on digital image processing techniques in the development of diagnosis support equipment to improve public health services in developing countries.

The technology was created to produce photos/images in order to obtain clear results to diagnose areas containing disease. Although she is an engineering person, she is interested in helping technology in the health sector. She revealed that the equipment / technology in rural areas did not have good resolution, especially in producing images / photos so she innovated to develop this technology. This focus is also in line with Unsoed's vision and mission related to sustainable rural development.

Prof. Dr. Eng. Retno Supriyanti, S.T., M.T. has a myriad of achievements. Some of them are that she received a research grant from Sandiego California (2008), was chosen as the Best Paper in Prague (2017), became a Finalist in Kalbe's Farma Technology Research (2010), was included in 40 Young Indonesian-American Researchers (Kavli Frontier of Science Indonesia-USA, 2013), became one of the Junior Scientists in the Indonesia-Netherland Cooperation (2014), and won the Konika Minolta Imaging Award, Japan (utilization of digital cameras, 2009). His doctoral education was funded by the Mobuka Gakoso Japan scholarship. In addition, she was also featured in several magazines/media in Indonesia, including Kartini Indonesia in the field of science and technology in Kartini Magazine (2012) and Inspirational Figure of the Nation's Children in Media Indonesia (2012).

In addition to receiving various awards/awards, 27 of her researches have also been granted IPR and patents. Some of these research topics include cataract early detection (method and device) as the holder of NAIS Rights (Japan International patent, 2009), IPR on white blood cell research (Power Post), IPR on alzheimer research, and IPR on gynecological ultrasound research. Prof. Dr. Eng. Retno Supriyanti, S.T., M.T. who is a scientist and professor with a myriad of achievements has the mandate to become a reviewer for several government agencies such as LPDP research (proposal) (2013 - present), Kemenristekdikti (2018 - present), and Unsoed (2011 - present).
