[unsoed.ac.id, Fri, 24/02/23] Lecturers from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Ahmad Sabiq, MA, and Dr. Agus Hariyanto S.IP., M.Si delivered a guest lecture at the Department of Political Sciences, Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Tuesday (21/2). Located in Al-Tabari Conference Room, Sabiq delivered a lecture entitled "Vote Buying in Indonesia Elections", while Agus delivered material entitled "Indonesia-Malaysia Relations under Soekarno".

The guest lecture was attended by postgraduate students of the Department of Political Sciences and a number of lecturers. The event opened with remarks from the Head of the Department, Dr. Rohana Abdul Hamid. She welcomed the guest lecture and hoped it would begin a close and meaningful collaboration between Unsoed and IIUM.

Sabiq highlighted the need for collaboration between all election stakeholders to prevent money politics, especially in raising awareness of anti-money politics. "All elements of society need to be involved in raising awareness of anti-money politics through methods and media that are in accordance with the times," he said.

Agus Haryanto talked about Indonesia-Malaysia diplomatic relations during the Soekarno era. In this opportunity, Agus explained the background of Indonesia's diplomatic struggle at the beginning of independence to gain international recognition. Later on, Soekarno became a leader in the world who promoted the anti-imperialism and anti-colonialism movements.  These two things were also related to the breakdown of Indonesia Malaysia relations at that time.

The lecture materials seemed to boost the enthusiasm of the IIUM academic community. This can be seen from the number of questions and comments that arose in the discussion session. The guest lecture was then followed by the main agenda, the cooperation talks between the Faculty of Social Sciences Unsoed and the Department of Political Sciences IIUM. In this occasion, an agreement was reached to start cooperation with mobility activities for students and for teaching staff. This activity then ended with a group photo session.
